Arthur amalgamates his other business, Advanced Textile Engineering with ACE realising the future potential in plastic.

A small Plastic Fabrication division is established by Arthur.

The Plastic Fabrication division moves to Butt End Mills, Lower Hopton, Mirfield and starts to operate independently.

Seamus Quinn joins and quickly gets the title of ‘Worse Fabricator in History’.

Chem Resist Plastic Fabrications is registered and begins trading in 1980.

Fluid Transfer (FT) division founded, distributing a range of technologies specifically for corrosive and aggressive chemicals.

Chem Resist becomes the main trading name and the business moves to the current site, Britannia House, Lock Way in Ravensthorpe. Simon Hewitt joins as Technical Sales for FT and a distribution agreement with Almatec is signed.

The Spiral Wound Manufacturing method is developed in conjunction with Cambridge University.

A 7000ft2 building, custom extruder and former handling facility are added to the site in Lock Way. Meanwhile, Packed Tower Fume Scrubbing technology is developed.

A prototype Sulphuric Acid Dilution Unit is designed and manufactured in thermoplastics, which operates for 27 years.

Simon becomes Managing Director and Seamus moves to the role of Chairman.
